Dee& JHN - any ideas how to get Jaake to coorperate walking on a leash...he is a bit of a puller
Dee& JHN - he seems resistent to fully letting go of taking charge around here
Dr. Liz - Yes. First rule of dog-walking, is, when dog pulls, don't PULL back! Use short strong tugs, not pulls. Dogs are instinctual pullers against anything pulling at them ... that's why they make such good sled dogs. :)
Dr. Liz - Also, what kind of collar/leash configuration are you using?
Dee& JHN - ok..i doo that..but he just tiers me out...actually after w while he kinda gives in, but it does take a while...I even got a harness for him to help , it worked at first, but he has regressed
Dee& JHN - he is good about staying focused on a long walk, I can easily get him to keep walking if he tries to sniff at soomething
Dee& JHN - i try to explain to him that I want him to walk at a pace where the leash is loose, slack, I stop when he pulls
Dr. Liz - harnesses don't work on dogs that pull. Dogs follow their heads. If you "have control" of their heads, you have control of their bodies.
Dee& JHN - he is right here...can you sense why he is so resistent?
Dee& JHN - the collar around the neck was worse for him...he pulled harder
Dr. Liz - A gentle leader, or a pull collar put way up on the neck and just beind the ears, has always been what I've used.
Dr. Liz - Dee, he says he's resistant because he thinks HE'S the boss, not you! He says you're too tentative. LOL!
Dee& JHN - i try that...just behind the ears, but it slips and he then pulls
Dee& JHN - but i use the words..."my pace" to him, I tell him I am in charge of the walk,
Dr. Liz - Dee, you can't let it slip. If you're letting it slip, it's 'cause he's in the wrong position relative to you. He must be right by your left side, with your hand above his head, holding the collar straight up but of course without choking him.
Dr. Liz - Dee, he'll believe your energy before he'll believe your words! LOL!
Dee& JHN - he is a great listener when you have a trat for him, but if you don't he knows it and he resists listening at times
Dee& JHN - ok, i can try keeping him tight to my side
Dr. Liz - Dee, again, that's you, not him! LOL!
Dr. Liz - His head needs to be just by your left knee. Not forward of it, nor lagging behind.
Dee& JHN - I am careful to keep my energy authoratative, maybe I am mising something
Dee& JHN - ok, by the knee...and use a choker chain collar?
Dr. Liz - With an animal with "pulling" issues, I use either a slip lead or a link collar, yes. The link collar must be put on correctly, with the link/ring assembly positioned so that it falls open easily from the animal's right side.
Dee& JHN - ok
Dr. Liz - The collar itself must be placed just behind the ears, very high up on the neck.

Dee& JHN - it is vital for Niko that Jake be a better listener..b/c after we figured out he wanted his name changed...he's much "warmer" to us...but Jake still chases him and he's still tentative around the house
Dr. Liz - If you're doing it correctly, just the slightest move will "move the head" and therefore the body will follow. It doesn't have to be tight around the neck, for certain you're NOT trying to STRANGLE him, just snug, and high enough to manage/direct/guide his head.
Dr. Liz - Dee, again, as you are more confident with Jake, he'll listen to you better.
Dee& JHN - Niko is even better with bbiting and scratching out of defense...when he grabs me I tell him to "close his mouth and retract his claws" of course sending the mental image too...and he lets me go and licks me...
Dee& JHN - his "attacks" are less frequent
Dr. Liz - Niko respects your "authority."
Dee& JHN - that is good to know...i think the name change did wonders for him
Dr. Liz - That is my sense of it ... that the name change did wonders for him!
Dee& JHN - and I think if he can learn to accept Jake and not fear Jake's ways, he will get even more comforatble
Dr. Liz - You can explain each's "ways" to the other.

Dee& JHN - I do try to do that for him, I also ask him to watch Henry and see how Henry interacts with the dog...and that Henry is safe with Jake, and that he is too
Dr. Liz - Dee, you're welcome! I felt the Humane Society did a wonderful job of comparing the candidates' records on animal rights.
Dee& JHN - I feel that will make the largest impact on my voting decision at date

Dr. Liz - I was hoping to raise each person's awareness on each candidates' animal rights' actions and positions. Personally, I'm voting AGAINST Palin. I believe a vote for her is a vote against the Light, the Oneness.

Dr. Liz - What's interesting is, the Age of Movement (according to the Mayan calendar) ends in Dec. 21st, 2012. The next President will be in place (maybe, that is, if we're all still here!) at that time.
Dr. Liz - We move into the Age of Spirituality and then the Age of Oneness.
Dee& JHN - "if we are all still HERE" - actually I guess we are hoping not not still be "HERE"...lol
Dee& JHN - but elevated
Dr. Liz - The Mayan's don't talk much about the next two ages, nor even does their calendar "measure" them, because they believed that as of 12/21/2012, time as our consciousness currently understands it, ends.
Dr. Liz - It makes "sense" from one point of view ... if "Movement" ends, all that's left is perception of "spirit" ... which is what the Age of Spirituality moving to the Age of Oneness, is all about.
Dee& JHN - it is intersting to think about what that could mean...endless possibilities
Dr. Liz - "Movement" requires something to "measure" it, and "time" has been the most common measurement of the progression of "movement."
Dee& JHN - I hope that our planet is going through the changs that it is, to open our eyes, and that it actually DOES that....
Dee& JHN - I hope most, if not all of us are able to hear what our planet is saying..the planet which I beleive is only an expention of us

Dr. Liz - Dee, it's ALL us, actually. ALL perception, is US.

I had intention to share some things we can do to have our energies be higher in the face of animal abuse ... my agenda is to positively impact the Nov. elections to have someone who honors animal rights be elected President and Vice President of the U.S.

Dr. Liz - There's another incredibly powerful prayer that the Dalai Lama wrote in 1960 on compassion for all sentient beings ... it's really long tho'. It feels to be too much to put in the Chat tonight. So I’ll make sure the whole of it is in the transcript.

Dr. Liz - It's a beautiful first paragraph ... "O Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and disciples of the past, present, and future: Having remarkable qualities immeasurably vast as the ocean, who regard all helpless sentient beings as your only child; please consider the truth of my anguished pleas."
Dr. Liz - "Buddhas full teachings dispel the pain of wordly existence and self-oriented peace; may they flourish, spreading prosperity and happiness throughout this spacious world. O holders of the Dharma: scholars and realized practitioners; may your ten-fold virtuous practice prevail."
Dr. Liz - "Humble sentient beings, tormented by sufferings without cease, completely suppressed by seemingly endless and terribly intense, negative deeds, may all their fears from unbearable war, famine and disease be pacified, to freely breathe an ocean of happiness and well-being. Joanne - pens. Especially, the chickens and the pigs where there is the most abuse. It may be landmark legislation.
Dr. Liz - Pennsylvania just passed a puppy mill law, requiring more humane treatment for puppy mill dogs.
Dee& JHN - 22 of the dogs were rescued by this place...and the rehabed so many of the dogs
Dr. Liz - Marge, what's the reaction in Canada for that little puppy that was shot in the head for no reason? Any good laws coming from that?
Dee& JHN - the show...(not only about these Vic dogs) is on Nation Geographic Channel on Friday nights...its a graet show
Joanne - I don't understand why these animals come to earth. What is their mission?
Dr. Liz - Dee, thank you!
Marge - Joanne, is the state of California about to pass some legislation to prevent this?
Dee& JHN - Joanne- maybe their sacrifice is to bring about awareness and change
Dr. Liz - Joanne, in the 1950's, the animals agreed to sacrifice their biologies as necessary to help upgrade human consciousness as much as they could.
Joanne - They are trying to get it passed, yes. I haven't really had time to follow fully
Dr. Liz - They knew then, that the next century would be the make/break for the planet.
Marge - Liz, there's been SO much lobbying to get our federal gov't to change our archaic legislation, so far to no avail. There have been many incidents of animal cruelty that come up, but nothing has changed yet (sigh)

Joanne - Are the animals us or are they separate entities at a spiritual level?
Dr. Liz - There's another prayer that wants to be shared tonight ... this one is Albert Schweitzer's ...

Dee& JHN - Dr Liz- is there more animla abuse as of recent...as opposed to 100 yrs ago, or is it just more in the light?
Dr. Liz - "Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals. Especially for animals who are suffering. For any that are hunted, or lost, deserted, or hungry, or frightened. For all that must be euthanized. We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity. And for those who deal with t hem, we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and to share the blessings of the Merciful."

Dr. Liz - Joanne, the main difference between animal consciousness and human consciousness, is that human consciousness is capable of holding the thought of separation. Animals’/nature's consciousness, doesn't.

Joanne - How have the animals avoided all of our pitfalls?
Joanne - And yes, it is a beautiful prayer.
Dr. Liz - Joanne, if you know you're "one-with", and you know you'll reincarnate, you only take what you need and use what you take. You live WITH nature, not against it.
Marge - If only humans were free of 'ego', and would 'forgive' like the animals do, we would live in a peaceful world
Joanne - So why did humans loose this ability? The ego?
Dee& JHN - so true Marge
Dee& JHN - Dr Liz- is teh consciousness of a "wild" animal different that the consciousness of a "domesticated" animal?
Dr. Liz - Joanne, the "ego" in the human species, is designed to show us, with ruthless compassion, virtually every place we can hold the false idea of separation. So the ego is our friend. It is designed to help us grow to the Oneness. Except unfortunately, huge numbers of people get to BELIEVING the "ego conversations" instead of STUDYING them to see their patterns and the energies behind them, that are asking to be recognized and un-done. We covered this in much more detail one or two Chat’N’Prays ago.
